Why You Need To
Experience
Harmon Valley:
Small Town Rodeo
There’s something special about a small town rodeo.
Not the giant stadium productions. Not the polished corporate events with $20 drinks. The real kind - where generations of ranching and blue collar families gather, kids run safely around the grounds, neighbours reconnect and the announcer knows half the contestants by name.
That’s exactly what you’ll find this weekend at the Harmon Valley Rodeo.
Located between Nampa and Peace River, the Harmon Valley Rodeo has been part of northern Alberta’s western culture for over 25 years. What started years ago around local fair and equestrian events has grown into a true community tradition, run by a small group of volunteers and supported by local families who care deeply about keeping rodeo culture alive.
For this little rodeo spectator support matters now more than ever and they promise an affordable, fun filled family weekend!
If you’ve never experienced a grassroots amateur rodeo before, this is your chance. This weekend you’ll see all the talent of the Wildrose Rodeo Association athletes in the major events from bareback and saddle bronc to barrel racing, roping and of course bull riding! The stock promises to be top notch provided by JC Rodeo and Moore Ranch. Both performances have great food vendors, a beer gardens and a by donation pancake breakfast (in support of their building expansion) in the mornings from 8:30AM–10:00 AM and Cowboy Church Sunday morning at 10 AM both hosted by Nampa Gospel Fellowship Church.
Tickets are available at the gate - cash only!
The action starts:
Saturday at 1 PM
Sunday at 12 PM
Weekend passes are just $35 for adults, and kids 11 & under get in FREE! Want to make a full weekend out of it? The Harmon Valley Agricultural Society also offers free camping with the purchase of a weekend pass.
Can’t stay the whole weekend? Single-day tickets are available for $20/adult, while youth (12-18) and seniors are just $10.
There aren’t many events anymore where the whole family can camp out on beautiful grounds, enjoy an authentic grassroots rodeo atmosphere, and make a full weekend of memories without breaking the bank. That’s what makes the Harmon Valley Rodeo such a hidden gem in northern Alberta.
So grab the kids, bring some friends, hit the backroads, and go support a rodeo that still feels authentic.
